Everyone could use a day away from screens and into nature. If you’re looking to try out some new local spots in Hingham, I’ve got some recommendations on the best parks in town! Although there’s several options, I’ll go over the top 4 and why these are good choices.
1. World’s End Reserve
Personally, I enjoy visiting World’s End the most. It encompasses 280 acres and features a stunning waterfront location with a view of Boston’s skyline and many of the islands in Boston Harbor. This park is wonderful to go for a walk or spend quality time with loved ones.
You can hike, mountain bike, run and snowshoe or cross-country ski in the winter months. This reserve is run by Trustees of Reservations and a daily fee or membership is required. On weekends, parking reservations are a must. You can learn more about the reserve on their website.
2. Wompatuck State Park
This park has 3,500 acres of land and provides its guests with a wide variety of recreational opportunities, including 250 camping places, ponds and lakes for fishing, cross country skiing, and snowmobiling during the winter months.
The park is accessible from sunrise to sunset and can be found on Union Street in Hingham, Massachusetts. Access is free. There are fees for camping sites. More information can be accessed on their website.
3. Weir River Farm
This is a 75-acre working farm managed by Trustees for Reservations. They have cows, pigs, sheep, chickens and many other farm animals. It is also a great place to go for a hike and take in the beautiful scenic vistas including views of the Boston skyline. Parking is available via Turkey Hill Road at the top of the farm or via Whitney & Thayer Woods Parking lot on Route 3A in Hingham. Admission is complimentary. 4. Bare Cove Park
Bare Cove Park is a town owned park that covers a total area of 484 acres and is open for public use and the enjoyment of nature. It is adjacent to The Back River in Hingham, Massachusetts, directly across from Great Esker Park on the Weymouth, MA side of the river.
If you love walking, jogging, cycling, cross-country skiing, or nature photography then this is one of the best parks for you to visit. There are many paved walking paths which make it great for strollers, bikes, wheelchairs, etc. The main entrance is off of Fort Hill St in Hingham and parking is complimentary.
Conclusion
If you’re looking to get some fresh air and check out some new spots, I recommend any of the above parks to recharge your battery. Although my favorite is World’s End, I love visiting new parks and adding new stops to my list.
